New York State Dual Enrollment Continues to Expand at a High Rate: New Federal IPEDS Data Release Provides Specifics

Over 175,000 High School Students Earning College Credit Across Dozens of Colleges and Across the State (+24,000 Students (15%) over the previous year); At Six NYS Community Colleges, High Schoolers are the Majority of All Students

New York high school students are getting the opportunity to earn college credit at

record levels, according to new data from the federal Integrated Postsecondary

Education Data System (IPEDS). In the 2023–24 school year, 176,364 high school

students took college courses in New York, an increase of 24,014 students, or 14.9%,

over the prior year. That growth rate outpaced the national average of 12.7%. Only

California and Texas enrolled more dual credit students in 2024.
